Royal Winter Fair...AND JELLY

Oh it's that time of year again!
Christmas time is in the air (even though it's still november)
College students starting to feel homesick
Children are laughing while christmas jingles are playing
On repeat at Walmart
And the Royal Winter Fair!
Oh! the beauty that is animals.
Oh! the perfect weather that frosted my fingers
Oh! the sweet wet aroma of cow shit
that haunts my dreams every night
Oh! the numbing pain that throbbed
While I stood with a broken back and an aching wrist
drawing cows that WON'T STOP POOPING RIGHT AT MY FACE
Oh how awesome this time of year makes me feel!
I HAD TO GO TWICE.
...
TWICE!!!
...
stupid cows.

So.. Here's my Royal Winter Fair portfolio! :D

Rendered (10 to 20 minutes)

Quick sketches (30 secs to 5 minutes)

So these are the ones that made it! many, unfortunately, did not.

And while we're still on the subject of animals, here's a simple animation I did a few weeks back of a jellyfish

was going to colour the jelly...got lazy (and busy).

  2. Good job with the RWF drawings Aya, strong sense of form and good structure.
When you're using white on kraft paper to show value, use it conservatively--
Another way of thinking about the use of white is to save it for focal points, or to keep your eye moving around the drawing, rather than complete accuracy. The Thurmanator will likely mention it's one part observation and one part invention.

    1. Thanks for the tip! I'm still a novice with this kind of material but you're right, I kept focusing on selective parts instead of just working at the drawing as a whole. Thurmanator.. hahaha awesome..
Btw it that you Nick? I'm not entirely sure... ?_?
